Mr White has operated on my wife on three occasions and I am currently waiting for a fairly major spinal operation myself. We cannot sing his praises too highly. A most understanding, patient, thorough surgeon whose clinical skills are of the highest. My wife benefits every day from his surgery after he removed a tumour from inside her spinal column - a difficult, delicate and very successful operation. When told recently by my GP that I had five prolapsed discs which required surgery to avoid the possible effects of cauda equina syndrome, I dearly wished a referral to Mr White and requested the possibility, I was so pleased that he took my case on and will operate on me shortly.

After many years of gradually deteriorating mobility, my father eventually became paraplegic, and was subsequently diagnosed with venous hypertensive myelopathy, related to a spinal dural arteriovenous fistula: Basically a connection had slowly grown between artery & vein, depleting the blood supply to his spinal cord, and so robbing its vitality. We were told that this was most likely a birth defect, and given that Dad was by then 72 years of age, taken with all of his other health problems, the future looked decidedly bleak… Once this condition had been diagnosed, all of Dad’s pending procedures were immediately cancelled, and Mr White assumed the task of prioritizing delicate surgery to embolize the site. For those of us used to performing more mundane skills, this procedure was surely the equivalent of attempting to manoeuvre a set of drain rods into a specific manhole in Dover, whilst standing on the cliffs of France… And yes, it did work: Not only that, but the gentleman who did so, and very many more similar procedures each working week, is precisely that: He is also a caring, compassionate and diligent soul. The net result of this event being that, after rehabilitation, Dad was then able to live the remainder of his life with a decent degree of mobility and independence, right up until the very end. He died several weeks ago, and both Dad, and the rest of his family, will always be deeply and sincerely grateful for the skill, generosity and compassion, of Mr Barrie White and his cohort. Thank you for saving more than just his life... With deep appreciation. Gary Wright

I would love to thank Mr White and his team for all they did for me last year. I had a Chiari malformation and seen Mr White about the agony I was in (I was also 19 weeks pregnant and very scared). Mr White ensured I was seen to with immediate effect and although I went down for surgery rather fast I had the upmost confidence in putting my life and my child’s life in his hands. I had a very bumpy recovery as I was pregnant and had a few difficulties but Mr White made sure he observed me carefully and knew what to do on each review for the best. I am now sat with my 4 month old daughter who is very healthy and I am able to be the best mum I can be without severe head pain because of Mr White. I can not thank him enough or recommend him enough. His care is amazing. (Would also like to add that Dr Amar was also amazing and worked close alongside Mr White with my recovery)

I have been under the care of Mr Barrie White since November 19 after suffering a prolapsed lumbar disc with L5 nerve root compression. The quality of care that I have received since then has been exceptional and I have nothing but praise for Mr White and his team. His meticulous history taking and calm professional manner are extremely reassuring and he immediately puts you at your ease with his straightforward explanation of the problem and possible solutions. I underwent selective nerve root decompression in February 2020. Surgery was instantly successful in relieving my severe pain , and although I am still in the early stages of recovery, I am very keen to recommend this outstanding surgeon and gentleman. He is not only a brilliant surgeon, he is also a highly professional and caring doctor, providing high quality care for all his patients. Outstanding.
